Classroom Bulletin Boards
Classroom bulletin boards may not be the very center of the classroom, but it is a very critical part of the classroom. You should have several classroom boards for use, because there are many ways to use them. You can post school wide notices, class wide reminders, grades, goals, themes, and anything else that you might want to broadcast to your students. You can also use bulletin boards as a constant reminder and way to reach out to your students. This is important if you teach in middle school or high school where there are a lot of students coming and going in the classroom on a regular basis. Every classroom should have at least one, but sometimes, they don’t. Sometimes, boards get damaged or simply worn out from overuse. Unfortunately, in many districts, when a classroom item gets worn out or busted, it is up to the teachers to provide the item or replace it. Most of the districts won’t say that officially, but that is often what it comes down to—do you, as a teacher, need the item enough to buy it yourself?
There are many places you can find classroom boards. One of the easiest things to do is to find an online vendor that sells office supplies and school supplies. They should have bulletin boards that are in a variety of different sizes. Some will be small and fit nicely in a corner and is more suitable for posting a few simple notices. Others can be much larger, even the size of wall, or at least half the size of a wall. That is for a large number of items and a wide variety of use.
